IPL Photofractional

The IPL Photofractional procedure combines two treatment solutions: IPL (intense pulsed light) and ResurFX non-ablative skin resurfacing to simultaneously treat skin tone and texture. Yes, it can be slightly uncomfortable. The sensation during treatment is said to feel like a warm rubber band snap against the skin followed by residual heat in the treated area. A topical numbing cream is applied prior to treatment to help minimize pain.

Treatments depend on the skin type, type of lesion, and other individual factors. Generally, pigmentation, vascular lesions, and skin retexturing require 4-6 treatments about 3-5 weeks apart. After the courses of treatment are completed many conditions require maintenance treatments annually.

  • No sun exposure 2 weeks prior to treatment, including self-tanners and spray tans.
  • No retinol or retin-a 1 week prior to treatment
  • No blood thinners such an advil, aspirin, or ibuprofen 7-10 days prior to treatment
